Where were you all when RT was stuck at max 250 concurrent players globally for ages? When there was only 2 other people in my ranking that the MM would actually let me vs? For a game that was free for a significant amount of time and as polished as it was things weren't looking up for its final release. Man the immense amount of backlash from people who say they liked Rising Thunder so much is kind of bizarre. Take all of that for what you would like. There's kind of a limited number of cards you could have. I also don't know how well something like a League of Legends card game would work out, though. With the popularity of Hearthstone and Hex, I don't see why Riot wouldn't try to take their free-to-play knowledge into the world of card games. The rumors that a fighting game based on the Rising Thunder engine starring League of Legends characters has already begun swirling, but what's more interesting is the rumors have started resurfacing that Radiant could be working on League of Legends: Supremacy again, which was a completely finished card game that Riot had buried. Given that Epic is releasing Paragon as well as Gears of War 4 (which I'm sure will be positioned with a eSports flavor for the online multiplayer function), it could be interesting to see if Riot is the only thing they buy out and whether or not Paragon starts to become any form of genuine competition against League of Legends.Ĥ. All I can do is hope that one day they'll bring back the mechs. I'm very curious about what the Rising Thunder team will be doing next. And while single-player titles like Stonehearth aren't Riot's usual bag, it always pays for large businesses to diversify. Radiant has a great deal of both technical and design expertise, with a speciality in competitive games. While this specific purchase was surprising, it's easy to see why it's a smart move for the company. Riot is one of the most quickly growing game companies on the planet, and so long as League of Legends continues to be the one of the world's largest games, I don't see that growth slowing down any time soon. I'm glad that the team behind Rising Thunder is being brought over to Riot, if only because it's always a bummer when acquisitions lead to mass lay-offs.
